" Beauty "

When I think of beauty in this world and above,
my heart becomes transfixed.
Not only from my heart flows a sea of love
but a fright with feelings mixed.

When I think of beauty in heaven above
I can't comprehend my love for the Lord.
I see the brilliance and peace of a snow white dove
reflect upon my life to come, where above my soul has soared.

But when I think of beauty upon this earth
from the inside out it's true,
no lily of the field can match the worth
of the beauty God sees in you.

" Dear One"

"Dear One"

Like the briskness of the wind how time flew by
as our friendships grew from within,
as much as the Lord is a part of me,
that part of you also I am.

Through times of strife and insecurities
when you need a friend to care,
the presence of our friends are not secure
and they won't always be there!

Many of our interests were not the same
and at times we didn't fit in,
but our common love of our Father above
makes us brothers and sisters through the eyes of Him.

Put all your worries and cares upon him
and he will bare the load,
use the talents and gifts that He provides,
not slowing down for the bumps you encounter along the road.

Shine your light upon all of those
you come in contact with along the way,
and may they see your your works and deeds
exemplified by your love for the Lord throughout each and every day.

And dear one most of all,
with your presence I've been so blessed.
With your prayers and support each day
my life has been the best.

Richness and grace will follow you,
for this time we must depart,
but we'll all stay together in spirit and soul
with the love of the Lord firmly planted and blooming
deep within our heart.

" Happiness Is "

I wanted to share a series of poems I wrote in 1991 shortly after I accepted Jesus as my Lord and savior. My prayer is that they offer you as much encouragement in your daily walk as they have for me. This first poem is called " Happiness Is " which is my personal favorite.

A Mother's Love

My wife Tracie has been asking me to do a watercolor painting of she and my daughter Kaitlyn for seven years, which coincidently happens to be Kaitlyn's age. She has patiently allowed me to do paintings for others, some as gifts, some for sale and some just to warm a person's heart, but always encouraging me every step of the way.
This new collection of paintings will be titled, " Home Is Where The Heart is," and will focus on the family. My wife wanted just one painting, but she is going to end up with a whole collection.
Since this is my first post of 2011, I want to wish everyone a Happy New Year. In the weeks and months to come, I not only want to share my art, but also some inspirational poetry I have written as well as some of the paintings that have been created as a result. I will also talk more about commission work as well as my whole process of creating. Thanks for stopping by and until next time, remember to " Let your light shine."

Commissioned Work / Alma Taylor

I have been busy in the early mornings and evenings the past several weeks working on commissioned work.  It is called commissioned because someone has given me direction in an original piece they want.  I am so excited every time I get this opportunity.  Most of the work I accept has a deep heart felt meaning from the person that has requested it.  I listen to the details they are looking for and before any paint goes on the canvas I must really "feel it" before I paint.  I have some thoughts for upcoming posts to take you through the entire process.

I am working on a very special piece for a Christmas present that is about finished.  This is becoming one of my favorite pieces I have painted and will share with you once it is given.

I recently had an opportunity to paint for a very dear person Alma Taylor.  She stopped by the studio one day and asked if I would paint a picture of her lovely granddaughter.  I have known Alma for years and told her I would.  Alma then informed me that she had cancer and the doctors had not given her long to live.  Ever since I heard that I have been praying for Alma, her husband Melvin and their family.

During times like these, God is especially there to comfort us.  You or I will never be able to explain why people get sickness and hard times.  I do know God has a plan for us. If we live the life we should as outlined in the Bible then one day we will be in Heaven.  Heaven will be such a wonderful place, with no pain and no suffering.  God bless Alma.
